THE CLIENT

Our client, a midcap exploration and production company, needed to hire a new senior executive and multiple senior hires after acquiring acreage in the US.

Up until that point, 95% of the company's assets had been outside the US. They had no existing local office, and no onboarding capability in North America.

Ducatus Partners stepped in to help appoint a senior vice president to lead the expansion, as well as an extensive senior team to build operational capability at the new site.

THE REQUIREMENT

Ducatus was retained to conduct a global search for a Chief Operating Officer or Senior Vice President Operations. The candidate needed to demonstrate a proven track record for delivering full lifecycle major capital projects, developing high-performing teams, and executing to the highest standards.

In addition, the client needed to build operational capability at a rapid pace. Ducatus was retained to provide an end-to-end recruitment solution for the new site, encompassing talent acquisition, candidate evaluation, due diligence, global mobility and more.

OUR PROCESS

To identify potential candidates for the senior vice president role, Ducatus Partners first undertook an extensive talent mapping exercise. By researching the executive teams of almost 70 other companies worldwide, we were able to develop a comprehensive map of the talent landscape and establish where to focus our search efforts.

We then narrowed this down by location and background, creating a shortlist of candidates based on their experience on similar projects and American citizenship.

We ultimately identified over 130 potential candidates, of which around 20 passed our rigorous vetting and interview process, and nine were presented to the client.

To build operational capability for the client, Ducatus Partners committed over 20,000 hours over 36 months in our capacity as retained end-to-end solution provider. This resulted in 86 senior placement and 14 contract hires.

OUTCOMES

Thanks to the efforts of Ducatus Partners, the company was able to appoint a Senior Vice President Operations with extensive leadership experience across both independent and major global operators. We also facilitated his family's relocation.

Overall, we saw an offer acceptance rate of 96% across all placements made for the client. Just under three quarters were sourced from within the state, with another 20% coming from within the US and 7% sourced internationally. We facilitated a total of 47 relocations overall.
